Will Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link Have Character Creation?

In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu posted on April 14, 2022, Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that players will indeed be able to create their own avatar, in Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link just as it is possible to do in Kingdom Hearts Unchained X and Union X, since players themselves will be the main characters of the game.

Unfortunately, Mr. Nomura did not say much more on the matter, so it is likely that details haven’t been finalized as of now, which isn’t too surprising, considering the game still lacks a release date. With a closed beta testing phase taking place later this year, however, there are good chances that we will soon learn more about character creation in Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link and all of the gameplay mechanics that will power the next entry in the series.

The series is now celebrating its 20th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, Square Enix and Disney will release some brand new games, including a new mobile game called Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link which looks quite different from those that have been released so far on iOS and Android.

Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link has been announced, alongside Kingdom Hearts IV and the final update for Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road, with a new trailer shared for the series’ 20th anniversary. The new mobile game will look and feel closer in style to the main entries in the series, rather than the previous mobile entries in the series, featuring 3D graphics and gameplay that looks rather exciting.

Judging from the trailer, Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link looks quite far in development already, but unfortunately, we do not yet know when it will release on iOS and Android globally. The first taste of the game will come with a closed beta test that will be held sometime this year, so it is likely that the final game will also release before the end of the year.

Set in Scala ad Caelum, an important location in the Kingdom Hearts universe introduced in the third entry in the series, Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link will allow players to explore the city, scale buildings, and fight enemies in what seems like an action-oriented battle system reminiscent of that seen in the console games where players will be able to use a variety of special techniques, including powerful magic. Is Disney Speedstorm Free to play?

Disney Speedstorm will be a free-to-play game at launch and if you’re eager to get your hands on the game, you can go ahead and pre-register for it on the Disney Speedstorm website so you can be among the first players to play the game.

The game supports cross-platform online multiplayer and local split-screen as well. This means you’ll be able to join races with friends regardless of the platform they’re playing the game on. From the previously released promotional art and trailers, we can ascertain that the below characters will appear in Disney Speedstorm:

The first thing you are going to need is your trusty watering can, which is one of the tools granted to you at the beginning of the game. The watering can on its own cannot remove the mushrooms until you upgrade it. To do this, you have to find Merlin and perform his quests, specifically the one called A New Enchantment.

Merlin is from the movie Sword in the Stone, which is a Disney adaptation of the story of King Arthur. In the film, Merlin acts as a teacher guide to the young boy who will eventually become King and he has a similar role towards the player here. Merlin will put a spell on your watering can for the duration of the quest that will let you destroy the mushrooms, specifically the Glade of Trust ones that you have to get rid of to access that area. You’ll find the game has other blocks like those throughout its maps.

How To Make The Ability Permanent

Unfortunately, you can’t keep the ability. To make it permanent, you have to keep completing Merlin’s quests and increase your Friendship Bond with him. Once you get to the level 8 Friendship Bond, you’ll unlock a new quest known as A Dark Experiment. Once you complete it, you’ll have your Watering Can permanently be enchanted to destroy mushrooms.

Overview

Sora is yet another swordfighter, but he is rather different from all the others included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as he is a lightweight, thus he is easier to launch in the air compared to other characters. His lightweight status also grants him, however, great aerial mobility, with the ability to also use a special midair jump that makes him ascend with a curved trajectory. This jump can be used to throw off opponents and catch them off guard.

Sora also has a decent ground game thanks to some attacks that naturally combo into one another, and the ability to extend regular attacks into three-hit combos. To do so, you either need to hold the button or tap it repeatedly.

Special Attacks

Sora’s special moves are inspired by the character’s moveset in the Kingdom Hearts games, and make him a force to be reckoned with in the right hands.

Sora’s Neutral Special attack is Magic, which allows him to cast Firaga, a long-range projectile attack, Thundaga, a close-range thunder attack that is great for edgeguarding and keeping opponents away, and Blizzaga, a short-range projectile that can freeze opponents. The three spells count as energy projectiles, so they can be absorbed, reflected, and pocketed.

Sora’s Side Special is Sonic Blade, a fast thrust attack whose direction can be changed three times. Upon hit, the opponent will be locked on, allowing Sora to charge towards them without having to worry about missing. This move has to be used carefully, however, as it has it is somewhat slow and has a long recovery time, which makes it easy for fast characters to interrupt and punish it.

Sora’s Up Special is Aerial Sweep, a series of spinning slashes with good upward movement and decent speed.

Sora’s Down Special is Counterattack, a regular counterattack special that only covers the front. Interestingly enough, Counterattack deflects projectiles coming from both the front and the back, making it great while fighting multiple opponents that use projectile attacks with special trajectories, like Simon and Richter’s axe attacks.

New Content

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 13.0.0 patch introduces support for Kingdom Hearts’ Sora, the final DLC fighter for the game. By purchasing Sora, you also get access to a new stage, the iconic Hollow Bastion. The patch also adds nine Kingdom Hearts songs to the game.

Patch 13.0.0 also adds new spirits inspired by the Kingdom Hearts series. The following spirits will appear in the Shop on the Vault menu.

Fighter Adjustments

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 13.0.0 introduces some balance changes for multiple fighters, as well as a universal change for all characters that makes it so that opponents that fall down following Kazuya‘s side special cannot be stepped on when jumping.

The game will include songs taken from all entries in the series, and we finally know which ones will be in.

According to Kingdom Hearts Insider, Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will include 143 songs. Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 songs take the lion’s share of the list, but there are enough songs from the other entries in the series to make Melody of Memory a complete package.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory will be the only Kingdom Hearts game to launch on Nintendo Switch in the foreseeable future, as ports of older entries in the series are not in development. Apparently, Square Enix did consider releasing them on the Nintendo console, but technical issues have prevented this from happening.
